Christmas dinner in the Park is going to feature Mexican food. But I’m adding a little taste of Panamá, the recipe I’m using is Cuban but it’s the same and another person is bringing rice. I only have two platano that should be the right ripeness, maybe I can get more tomorrow. I’m going to make it in my hot pot and let it cook for about 5 hours. I’ll let you know how it turns out….I bought cookies to take if it doesn’t turn out good!.
Thanksgiving was a bust for me. I got all weepy and it lasted for two days. As I’d planned, and changed my mind about going to VA for Thanksgiving plus I’m messing with my meds so that could have been part of it. But I’m fine for Christmas, no plans made to frustrate me.
It’s been cold in Caballo, freezing at night, water lines freeze then, no water in the morning til things thaw up a bit in my RV. Got another heater for the studio so we can spend time there, I’ve been playing in paint, I have a few new things, I sent a few home to VA, hope they can use them. I bought a cheap $15 Walmart frame to see how these canvas papers fit into a 16 x 20 frame. Looks good, perfect for them at a low cost perfect for a kids bedroom or basement rooms tho of course they can be more expensively framed as well. I think i’ll paint some more like this and maybe sell them, What do you think? What I do is mostly abstract because I love combining colors and lines but to sell them I’ll need to paint trees. So do you paint what you want or paint to sell? I know my answer, I need the money for paint so I’ll be painting some trees! Take this for instance, doesn’t look like much but when you put it in a nice frame it’s elegant! I’m going to add a page here with new available work soon…. for sale!
It’s late in the day to wish you Happy Easter, you probably have been to church or met up with the ‘easter bunny by now. Do you have family traditions you follow? Since leaving Panama we haven’t celebrated holidays as we did.
I just came home from the group here in the rv park, they have a special meal to celebrate the holidays with a pot luck dinner. I usually just bring wine. Cooking is a challenge just for myself, much less able to prepare something special for the group. Pretty lazy right, I just serve myself a small plate to compensate for my laziness. It’s a nice group of people but even here there are hurt feelings between residents, I guess it’s like any small town, everybody knows everything about everyone’s coming and going’s I find it best to mind my own business. Works for me being the loner I am now with few social graces…….I snuck out without even an adios, rude, but I did say I was sneeking out early to those at the door does that count? No, I’ll apologize when I go to pay my rent.
Tomorrow morning I’ll go to Elephant Butte to have some work done on GG, a new coating for the roof and a few other minor concerns and help I need, at least I don’t need work on the propane as that problem is resolved. I’m having a problem filling my fresh water tank I saw somthing on utube about this and seems like an easy fix, I need to sanitize it and fill with water, the water just flows right back out as it’s filling, some sensor I guess and how the heck does one add bleach, with a syringe?? I want my new faucet installed, hope what I have works and a ledge created for my painted Mexica pot to sit on. I’ll have to pack up everything again.
I may make a quick trip to north Texas, I guess I’ll go in my smart car as I don’t have a trailer to tow the car behind the RV yet, I didn’t expect to go anywhere so soon. I don’t remember wind being a concern in Tx but now I get weather updates for high winds in Plano, important info for either the RV or smart car. I can leave the RV here no problem. Oh Oh I don’t have my new plates for the smart car, they are in Plano ‘TX, think I can take the plate off the RV for the trip? Or have them send here before I go anywhere. Yes I’ll get my son to send them to me now, what if something happened and I had the wrong plate, could be a problem!
When I started out on this journey I had no idea where I was going or where, I would settle. I watched the u-tube videos of course but until I was ready to go I still didn’t know where I was going.
Reading about different parks on websites helped me find this gem, the reviews convinced me I should start here. I was planning to just stay awhile before going to Arizona for the January RTR in Quartzsite, but (I only put this out here because almost no one but family and friends and a few curious read this) I’m going to pause here and pay bills while I can do it paying $150/month rent. It’s pleasant, nice people live here, the park sites are nicely spaced and there’s a happy hour every day if you wish to participate. Closest town is 20 miles away, shopping means Walmart and one grocery store.
I am at a disadvantage here because I don’t have a “toad” so I have to disconnect and reconnect electric, water and tanks, every time I want to go anywhere. Means I have to reorganize my space each time because stuff moves in transit making a mess each time I’m out and about. I need a toad. (a car that you tow with your RV)
You probably know you should buy a car in your state rather than outside your state. I didn’t. I tried to buy one I liked in NM , couldn’t do it as I wasn’t a NM resident nor do I have a NM drivers license. All is not lost though because this car can be shipped to El Paso and I can buy it there, I’m excited, my little smart car will get me mobile again and I can discover what’s great about New Mexico besides the sunset.
Some people say people shouldn’t sleep in their cars. Why is that do you think,
where should they sleep is they have no home and are lucky enough to have a car to sleep in??
Now there are statutes that say it is against the law to sleep in your car.
What about sleeping in my rv?
This is my home, that doesn’t make me homeless even tho I sleep on wheels
Owners of RV parks say we should sleep in their parks, not in the street and they charge too much to just sleep there overnight.
If I am homeless where can I spend the night ?
Maybe we should be planning inexpensive housing instead of lining political pockets at the expense of the nearly homeless.
Maybe we need public bath houses with hot water and soap and potta potties for those homeless via just bad luck.
It can happen to just about anyone and is happening more often than ever, and it seems it won’t get better any time soon, our social fabric has been torn leaving many families and children fragmented and forlorn.
